Review: God Is with You Everyday, 365 Day Devotional by Max Lucado

Review: God Is with You Everyday, 365 Day Devotional Max Lucado Thomas Nelson 2015 Once again Max Lucado puts forth a devotional book for his readers and maybe some that are new to his writings.   This is a devotional reading for the year organized by month and day.   Each day is an excerpt or based on one of his other publications.   The book I received has a padded front cover and a ribbon marker.   I like ribbons so that gets a mention.   Also it is a nice size and handles well. What about the content?   Like the Lucado I’ve read before, he can get serious with you, and at other times be lighter to read without losing the content.   That is a plus, I think, because a steady diet of one or the other causes me to put a devotional book down and forget where I left it.    I do recommend this devotional overall.   Take a peak and see what you think.    This book was provided by the publisher in return ...

Review: KJV Foundation Study Bible from Thomas Nelson, Inc.

Review: KJV Foundation Study Bible Thomas Nelson, Inc. 2015 KJV, King James Version, the text of Scriptures translated into the English language long ago.   Happily, the more recent editions have dispensed with the script used back in the 1600’s and opted for a more modern one.   It’s my understanding that the translation itself has not been altered, but that realm belongs to the experts.   The features available in this particular version from Thomas Nelson are what I intend to address. Review: Simply Open: A Guide to Experiencing God in the Everyday by Greg Paul

Review: Simply Open: A Guide to Experiencing God in the Everyday Greg Paul Thomas Nelson 2015 The key to this approach is indeed simple openness.   Openness of the senses to the small prompts that are constantly around us through our senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.   And he included the heart and mind within the list as well.   I admit that I resisted the idea of smell and experiencing God being in any way linked.   The author won me over.    Through a simple prayer of opening the sense, releasing what that sense has accumulated that is a hindrance, receiving what God has to offer, and becoming the person to use that sense in a Godly manner,   a person can experience the ever present presence of God in the moment.   The simplicity of this approach is not necessarily easy, but it is effective.      The introduction is key I think.   It reveals the way the author and at least one other person, i....
